ABOUT

Beatriz Monteavaro

Beatriz Monteavaro was born in Cuba, and received a BFA from Tyler School of Art of Temple University. Monteavaro is an artist and musician whose work exists within the realms of monster movies, science fiction, fantasy, theme parks, and underground music scenes. Her recent work is a meditation on memory, time travel, lost histories, and long walks on the beach.

Monteavaro plays drums and is one half of the band Holly Hunt and one quarter of the band SAAVIK. She has a solo sound project called Ellen Ripley. Her work has been exhibited at Annina Nosei Gallery, New York; Miami Art Museum; Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami; and Derek Eller Gallery, NYC.

Gavin Perry

Gavin Perry received his BFA from the Tyler School of Art in 1996. For over 20 years, Perry has maintained a rigorous, labor-intensive approach in his art practice. Through process-based methodology, he creates a broad array of abstract paintings and sculptures, primarily made of resin. Taking cues from low rider car culture, Southern California finish fetish, and mid-century design, Perry creates luminous and highly refined works.

Perry has exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo exhibitions at Fredric Snitzer Gallery in Miami; Barbara Davis Gallery, Houston; and Galerie Sultana, Paris. He is a recipient of the prestigious 2009 South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship.
