COUPLING presents work by artist couples whose practices are shaped by both their shared lives and distinct artistic voices. Some of the artists collaborate directly, creating work together through a shared process; others maintain independent practices that develop alongside one another. Together, these pairings offer a nuanced view of how artistic identity can be formed within the context of partnership.

The exhibition considers how personal relationships influence artistic work through exchange, support, proximity, and difference. It asks how living and working alongside another artist can shape ideas, methods, and creative decisions, whether through direct collaboration or through parallel practice. In some cases, the relationship becomes visible in the work itself; in others, it exists more subtly as a framework of influence, conversation, and mutual understanding.

By bringing these artists together, COUPLING highlights the many ways creative and personal lives can intersect. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on partnership not only as a private relationship, but also as a meaningful context for making art—one that can foster dialogue, challenge assumptions, and expand the possibilities of individual practice.
